About Pekka

 

Pekka is a geologist with Exploration & Mining business experience since early 2000 with several organizations and positions.

​

His work experience includes:

• 15 years in an international consulting company, Pöyry (current AFRY)

• 6 years at Finnish Geological Survey, GTK

• Since 2021 as a private entrepreneur

 

During these years he has strongly contributed e.g. to the following:

Exploration and Mining Business development for a large international stock listed engineering and consulting company, currently ranked as #7 in Mining business globally (The Engineering News-Record, ENR). Besides overall business development, he also promoted establishment of successful and growing regional office in Finnish Lapland, the center of mining industry in Finland as well as home of gyrfalcons. During these years Pekka was heavily involved with three significant Nordic mine investment projects. Currently these operations are (1) the biggest European gold mine, (2) the only European PGE producing mine with significant Ni-Cu and Co production, as well as (3) mid-tier iron ore producing mine. He also contributed to the ESG and Sustainability performance of these mines amongst many other exploration and mining projects.

 

Later on he was heavily involved with Survey development, capacity building and commercial projects on mineral economics discipline, including domestic and international business and strategy development. He was initiating the Mineral Intelligence research at the Survey. Also country & investment opportunity promotion are familiar to him as well as advisory for companies planning to establish their operations in a new jurisdiction.

Most recently Pekka has been working as private entrepreneur in the fields of Mineral Intelligence and ESG advisory practices. The company current clientele includes a major State owned enterprise, Fortune 500 company and several public & private exploration companies.
